The Acting Servant's responsibility is simple: protect order, protect Voice, and protect agency.
You are not the Pod's decision-maker. You do not advocate for an outcome. You serve the group by protecting the Voice • Vote • Value process.
Three Rules for Acting Servants
Serve the process—not a position.
Never require someone to explain withheld consent.
Their agency does not require justification.
Don't fear silence.
Give people time to think.
Quick Scripts
Simple language for difficult moments.
OPENING
“Today I'm serving as Acting Servant. My role is to protect the process and make sure every Voice is heard without pressure or debate. Let's frame our first decision.”
STOPPING AN INTERRUPTION
“Hold on for just a moment. We're in Voice right now. Let's allow them to finish and then we'll continue around.”
STOPPING DEBATE
“Let's bring this back to Voice. Rather than responding directly, hold that thought for your turn.”
SHORTENING A LONG RESPONSE
“Can you bring that down to the core for us—is there a new idea, support, or a specific concern you'd like us to hear?”
TESTING READINESS
“It sounds like we've heard the major perspectives and there may be alignment. Do we have a move to consent?”
CONSENT WITHHELD
“Consent is withheld. Thank you. No explanation is required. We'll let this proposal rest and move forward.”
PRESSURE AFTER WITHHELD CONSENT
“We don't campaign for consent. Withholding consent tells us we aren't ready to act together. Individual households remain free to act within their own stewardship.”
CLOSING
“The Record Keeper has captured our decisions, commitments, and resting items. Thank you for protecting one another's Voice and agency.”

Am I protecting the process—or influencing the outcome?
If you are influencing the outcome, return to serving the process.
